Riccardo Schiavone - Research Topics
Researcher at the Satellite Networks Department of the Institute of Communications and Navigations of the German Aerospace Center (DLR)
Currently my main focus is on the following topics:
- Design and decode of low-rate codes for massive machine type communications (mMTC).
- Short convolutional codes for ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC).
- Design of communication systems capable of supporting different error targets for the coexistence of several applications in one system. Main technology, channel codes for the unequal message protection problem.
- Design of protocols for the unsourced multiple access problem.
- Codes for improving the resilience of wireless networks to power failures using smart grids.
- High-speed fully software erasure code encoders and decoders for inter-satellite links.
- Channel coding techniques for the implemention of neural networks in noisy hardware or environments (e.g., radiations in space).
- Channel codes for distributed computing.
